Who’s Behind This?

This project grew out of years spent watching how things really work in Pierre — and remembering when they used to work differently.

There was a time when South Dakota elected Democrats. Real ones. The kind who built schools, fixed roads, and protected what mattered.

Turn South Dakota Purple exists to tell those stories back into public memory — not with outrage, but with clarity.

Our Philosophy: Deep, Not Wide

We don’t need a million clicks. We need a few thousand South Dakotans to start talking differently about politics. That means history, memory, and a willingness to challenge your own assumptions — or at least listen while someone else does.

We believe persuasion isn’t a fight. It’s a story you haven’t heard in a while.

What We Believe

  • Cognitive dissonance is a good thing.

  • South Dakota used to vote blue — for a reason.

  • Local storytelling is more powerful than national noise.

  • This isn’t about flipping. It’s about opening.
